What it is

Nothing to wipe off afterwards

A clean-agent portable discharges a gas that puts the fire out and then simply evaporates. It is non-conductive, so it is safe on live equipment, and it is non-corrosive and residue-free, so the rack, the board or the instrument it was discharged over is still serviceable afterwards. Against a powder discharge in the same cabinet, that is usually the difference between an incident and a replacement.

It is the natural pairing for a room already protected by a fixed clean-agent system — the fixed system handles the room, the portable handles the cabinet somebody is standing in front of. It also has an advantage over CO₂ in an occupied space: no frost hazard at the horn and a lower discharge concentration, which is why control rooms and laboratories often specify it.

It costs more per unit than powder or CO₂, so it is specified where the contents justify it rather than everywhere. We survey the rooms, specify the mix against the equipment in them, mount and sign the units, and cover the annual check, refilling and hydrostatic test cycle with a per-unit record under the maintenance contract.

Equipment

Sizes and what each one is for

Capacities we supply, selected against the cabinet or bench rather than the floor area.

1 kg and 2 kgAt a rack, a bench or a control desk — a unit somebody can lift and aim into a cabinet.
4 kgServer rooms, control rooms and UPS rooms as the room’s portable unit.
6 kg and 9 kgLarger equipment rooms and plant with substantial electronics.
Trolley-mounted unitsWhere a data hall or a switch room needs more than a hand unit can deliver.
Wall brackets and signageOn the route into the room, signed so it is not confused with the powder unit outside.
Pairing with the fixed systemSpecified alongside the room’s flooding system, which is what covers the cabinet in front of you.
Refilling and rechargingRecharged with the correct agent by weight after any discharge, however partial.
Hydrostatic testingOn the required cycle, stamped and recorded against the unit.

Send the drawings or the BOQ and we will price it line by line. Most enquiries start with a site visit, because the site decides the system — not the catalogue.
